Corona/Korona - The Game!

I found a totally killer game for a family Christmas gift this year: Korona! Korona, or Corona in Swedish, is a board game similar to billiars on a wood board, I loved it as a kid. As a matter of fact, even my mom says she played this as a kid. Per Wikipedia, Korona is also known as Novuss and originates from Estonia and Latvia, where it is a national sport. It seems it is also sometimes called Carom Pool (US) or Korong (Sweden).

The board is about 1m x 1m (39" square) with pockets in each corner, and lines marked on the surface. We set the board on the dining table. You have a wood que, a flat plastic puck and 8 smaller plastic discs. You line up your small discs on the opposite side of the board from you, against the back wall and you then shoot at them with your puck from anywhere on the horizontal line closest to you. If you sink a puck, you get another turn. If you hit your puck or any of the pieces of the board, your opponent gets to place it anywhere in the center circle. Simple. And a ton of fun! I'm actually surprised this game isn't popular across the Atlantic... Joel is thinking about making these as a business when we come back!
